Pillman should get more credit for the whole Attitude Era. Just think about how everyone was acting when Pillman showed up to the WWF in 1996. He was the first one with any real "edge." Also his high flying athletic style was also very influential as very few American wrestlers were doing the things he was doing during the early 90's.

1997 is the best year for wrestling. Both WWF and WCW were on fire and there were actually good matches in the WWF. After that as fun as Attitude era was there weren’t great matches during that time

A '99 attitude era Bret Hart would've been a cool thing.

Brett ❤️ was the intro to the attitude Era. He made Shawn & HHH hot when they introduce DX vs the ❤️ Heart Family & The Screw Job. And Put over Austin to Mega star bracket.

The mishandling of Bret Hart will forever be a big part of Eric Bishoff's legacy.
He litterally got handed the hottest wrestler in the business at a time wrestling was at it's peak.
He should have been programmed with Hogan as they let Sting go off with the championship.

When it comes to Bret/Shawn Survivor Series 97 people just talk about the screwjob but I think it was the best match they had because of the story and the legit hatred. Unlike their other matches, it was a fight. I loved it!

Crazy to think Bret wasn’t in WWE In the attitude era. He left right before it started.

funny thing is .... from WCW the match that I remember the most for the actual wrestling was Bret vs Chris the Owen tribute, Ray vs Billy Kidman and Stiners tag teams ... rest were just drama with NWO but only for the sake of drama not the actual wrestling....

Nah, what you got to remember is both Shawn and Bret were acting like to spoilt brats behind the scenes, they were dictating how their matches should end and where they should take place, they were demanding what should happen and yet Vince was putting up with it till in the end Vince finally had enough, Vince had himself to blame for putting the belt on those 2 who were acting the way they were especially Shawn.
If Bret stuck around I think it would have had a negative effect on the pushes of the likes of Rock, Austin, Kurt and the others that were about to get over with the crowd in WWF to the point these new athletes would have come second place if Bret stuck around and continued to insist on wins and only take losses uncleanly, ...I mean he hardly ever took a clean loss usually to just family members, I think Bret being in WWF in 1998, 1999 etc would would have stalled the attitude era, same effect as Warrior coming back in WWF in 1996, he just looked out of place and an outdated gimmik from an earlier era, just my opinion.

When you guest star on The Simpsons, you are truly a somebody. The 1997 Bret Hart angle is basically a major basis for Trump's Canada "51st state" garbage. It was during the time that Bret became the first pro wrestler to actually be a Simpsons guest star.

The Montreal match was a good match?

Go back and watch it. 80% of it is him beating up Shawn. Not that much actual wrestling in it either.

Is he going to pretend that he didn't hate the attitude era in this video? One of the few things he is right about is hating the cheap porn wrestling that is the attitude era.

Every Bret Hart interview: Everything I did was amazing. I was the best. Everyone who’s ever criticized me is an idiot.

Bret always seemed like a judgmental guy. Like the kind of guy who sees a guy smoking a joint and goes to tell the boss he doesn’t want to work with that crackhead.

Nothing will come close to wrestling from 1997 to the end of 1999. WWF, ECW and WCW all in their prime
