Alt builds were everywhere back during the early days of the Lego system, they even bled into the mid 2000's they were that common, but due to specialized parts official alt builds are extremely rare these days

Alt builds are getting harder and harder because seemingly blue cars are filled to the brim with magenta, cyan, yellow, red, brown, lime and many more colored pieces on the inside to "help people building" (cheaping out on production cost).
