Honestly for a man who literally has no parent experience. Spent majority of his life in the yakuza and always getting reeled back into it. Having ptsd of his friend and girlfriend dying. And his father figure literally telling him he’s the reason his actual parents are dead. It’s amazing how kiryu even still goes to protect Haruka and helping form her own path in life to get a bright future.
