Even after 18 years & several amendments later our Defense Acquisition Policy works more like a “Defence Adanga Policy”, it’s unable to reduce the number of approvals required or find a more comprehensive alternative to the lowest bidder approach. In fact we push it even in cases we shouldn’t do, for instance in a straight forward case of acquiring 100+ Rafael fighters, we still insist on MRFA as if there’s any rationale to buying another aircraft after spending billions of $$ & multiple years spent on India specific changes, command & weapons integration, building & training entire team pilots, technicians, ground crew, supply chain for equipment & more. It’s surprising to see that even intelligent & knowledgeable people fall into this trap & talk about MRFA.

yep offset is the large portion of exports to US & france. some items like night vision, helmets, body armor are one of the best products india been exporting for over a decade. indian army didnt realize it till late. armenia, philipines, guayana purchased some big ticket items. anywho, this is way better than what india had in the past. keep it going

FOR YEARS, i have been advocating, developing indigenous systems/ platforms. Because no country is stupid to give tech transfer. Off-set is always done with low tech components. We accept, as our corrupt people in india is happy to get commissions/bribes for long...

Let there be more R&D, not joint ventures or production. I have been telling this because I have worked in a organisation which has collaboration with GE for 38 years, they have not given 100% tech transfer or right to use the transfered technology. We have to develop our own. No option. I see lot of idiots who are exited that we are buying best in the world.

We better die using our own weapon system than remaining incompetent to do cutting edge tech.
