Shes probably just embarrassed, im all for your house your rules but ive been in that same situation where no one told me that i was supposed to take off my shoes, i think you shouldve just told her to start off politely. Ive felt very embarrassed when ive accidentally done that, maybe not to that extreme but ive accidently stepped on someones carpet with shoes on

i mean... i would also have advised to just talk about it, especially if they have a good relationship. i think wanting the mil to take her shoes off is totally fair (@ the husband who doesn't think it's an issue: are you the one who cleans the floors?), but i do kinda think they could've just had a conversation. this way seems a bit passive aggressive to me.

But it would’ve been better to just sit down and talk to her you are both grown after all. The passiveness of buying a basket of shoes without telling her you had a problem probably came off wrong.

I'm sorry you shouldn't even be having to ask this question it's your house so if you want her to not wear shoes in your house that is your right and you should respect or not you but she should respect you and your husband should be respecting you as well since you're the one cleaning the house I'm sorry but I guess I think it's weird she's walking around and her sneakers all day why would you walk around and sneakers all day seriously who would want to wear shoes all day I don't understand it I mean I'm pretty sure most of everybody was raised you come in you wipe your feet you take your shoes off you put them away or if you know away is next to the door on a shoe rack or whatever then put them on the shoe rack and she shouldn't be upset your husband should have backed you up you clean the house and I'm assuming you run the household you know I don't know if you're going to stay at home mom but either way it doesn't matter the fact is you clean it and you live there and it's your rules
