As HVAC professionals, we must understand energy efficiency ratings to help our customers make informed decisions.

So for HVAC part load energy usage representation, we have SEER.

From AHRI 210/240 (2017): Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). The total heat removed from the conditioned space during the annual cooling season, Btu, is divided by the total electrical energy, W·h, consumed by the air-conditioner or heat pump during the same season. Expressed in Btu/(Wh).

The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the system.  Conditions of testing are outlined in the standard.

Unlike EER, SEER gives us an understanding of the cooling energy usage over varying load conditions.

What improves SEER? Modulation (compressors, supply fans, condenser fans), and larger condenser coils.

Very nice, first time I've seen that formula!

I think what we're asking for is, a seer 13 uses how many watts to remove 25, 000 BTUs of heat vs how many watts does a seer 20 use?

And while "it varies" what's the rough amount? Because I'm guessing they use this super vague measure because it's not THAT different...

ok but show me how to calculate the seer of a working unit. :/
