Pivoting back to continental philosophy, we must discuss a very important movement in this tradition, and that is the Frankfurt School. This group utilized the ideas of Marx and Freud to advance the field, led by figures like Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno. Let's see what they were all about!

Adorno also comes in for heat from reactionary circles these days because he accurately described the psychological-propaganda techniques the fascists used to rope in their dupes. The "fait accompli" technique, for example: "It consists of presenting an issue as one that previously has been decided. The 'fait accompli' technique thus touches upon one of the central mechanisms of the mass psychology of fascism: the transformation of the feeling of one's own impotence into a feeling of strength. The feeling of impotence is represented by the idea that the issue already has been decided without one's having had any say in it; but acknowledgment of this very fact, by 'going over' to the established victor, mysteriously and irrationally changes the feeling of impotence into one of power."
