Regarding the model helicopter on Mars: although that little machine is based on RC helicopters, it cannot be operated by radio control from Earth because it takes around 20 minutes for a signal to travel the distance between the two planets.
Therefore, Ingenuity's flights have to be pre-programed so it can fly autonomously. Maybe the software will include Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable it to avoid landing in rough terrain. As this experiment proceeds, I expect we will get a lot more information. Thanks for the updates.
