I read this book every year on my birthday....I have given hundreds of copies of it away with a note saying "I hope that you will recognize me as one of your have hired people based on this book and not hired people based on this book...lastly as a public speaker, one of my keynotes on Entrepreneurialism centers on the concept of this book and how it has the ability to identify those of us that have a fire in us to keep risking it all in search of our true meanings and passions. I cannot wait for this movie to come out...and meeting Paulo Coelho in person is literally the highest thing on my bucket list!

"The boy's name was Santiago..." right from that first line, I read 10 years ago, the Alchemist opens with the wonder and beauty of a child's story. I've read Hemingway, Steinbech, Orwell, Fitzgerald, Huxley and all the literary classic authors but Coelho's novel is the only book I have read and re-read about 50 times. I look forward to the movie but the book will always be in a class of it's own.
