The Lake

The creation of the lake, 73 years earlier,
led to the flooding of the agricultural land
of the village's inhabitants.

Thus pushing them to leave their home,
where many generations have succeeded
one another since the twelfth century.

The resistance fighters were expropriated;
sealing the fate of these centuries of history.

Although devastated, the village is not part of the past,
and there are still a few lineages to bear witness to its
past existence.The descendants of the last farmer live
among the ruins, and we can still hear the sound of life
in the distance.

Anamnesis is a 4-episode series which immerses us in an
ancestral story. A story about a village and its inhabitants.
A story about resistance and its inescapable faith.

Notes :

I use my modular synth as a little electronic orchestra.
My sequences are composed on my piano, with my voice,
or directly with my modular synth, and programmed into
the Nerdseq sequencer, but i also use the Ground Control
and the ER101 when i am in my studio.

Pre-recorded samples of my voice, soundscapes of the
place, instruments (all played by myself) and certain FX,
are reinjected in the system via sampler modules such as the ER301,
the 1010 MK2, STS, triggered, and mixed with the rest of the sequences.

The phase of composition, instrumentation and preparation of the
session takes long weeks of work, sometimes months.

This project has always been funded by Chalisk and me,
and is not really viable, it is purely about the process, the journey,
about art & spirituality and the joy to share this experience with you.

It was the 4th time using our new homemade generator.
Noiseless, light, perfect. It was developed during many
months and builded by Chalisk.

We try as much as we can to do things
by ourselves. It is always a process
within a process, a way to discover
and learn new things.
