Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, discusses the spreading Coronavirus, the history, cause, symptoms and treatment, with VOA, Tuesday, January 21.
–––––––––
READ MORE: Experts meeting in emergency session at the World Health Organization will look at the spreading Coronavirus to see whether it constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and decide on recommendations needed to manage it. The WHO has confirmed 440 cases of the disease, including 17 deaths.

Since the new coronavirus was detected in a fish market in Wuhan city, China three weeks ago, the previously unknown virus has moved with frightening speed internally and abroad. Deaths have been reported in China, Thailand, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

The first case of the disease has been reported in the United States in a man who returned to the West Coast city of Seattle last week from Wuhan. He is hospitalized in good condition, but the appearance of the case has put officials in the U.S. and other countries on heightened alert.

This reminds me of several films which started with news stories exactly like we’re seeing here and people discussing it exactly like we’re all doing, then it hots up into a full on pandemic. This one is creepy, MERS and SARS weren’t, this feels different but I can’t put my finger on why.

If this CoV becomes pandemic, the only safe way to go into public will be with wrap-around safety glasses, the proper type of mask covering mouth & nose, disposable gloves and perhaps even a disposable gown, among other precautions...

They need to stop travel to and from China and other places that have cases

Wow, it’s strange watching this a year later, February 5, 2021, when a year ago we didn’t know just how bad it could get. Watching this after losing my dad to the virus. Watching this a year later when I actually remember what I was doing on this day a year ago. When my dad was still alive as millions others were too... this is so tragic to see how this has impacted our world, to be alive for this. It’s awful.

Missing the part when he said it was unlikely it would get to the US and that at the moment there was no indication of any threat...Nice job Fauci. July 2020 says hi.

No one is saying HOW it started in a WET MARKET, which is a market where you can buy fish that sits right beside a stand that you can buy live dogs, ducks, chickens, pigs for slaughter, a stand with raw meat already cut up on display exposed to what ever flys are flying around and hopping from one stand to the next. Cooked foods also exposed to the outside environment. Go to Headlines with a voice, she can show you exactly what one of these markets looks like, then you understand why and how this all came to be. Very unsanitary.

How many were infected when this guy in WA state was sitting in the clinic waiting to be seen? I usually have a 4-5 hour wait in the ER and almost as long at my local MedExpress. This is very concerning that China has practically shut down all those places. I fear it may have been too late, time will tell.

This has many parts of his early conversation when he said it's like the common flu. Our administration was listening & acting on COVID before Dr Fauci.

Anyone who thinks this virus started in America in Jan/Feb is denying all the hospitalization and deaths due to respiratory failure in November and December 2019!! I really wish a medical professional who has access to tests would test a cadaver who died of respiratory failure and donated their body to science (isn't six feet under) who died in November and December of 2019 and see if their antibody test comes back positive

The Chinese authorities never ever tell the truth, an irish man called bbc radio 2 today and said he is married to a Chinese and living there about 10 years, he said in his words “ I’ve done a runner “ and came back to uk, leaving his wife there as she wanted to be with family for the new year celebrations. The situation is so bad he said he decided to get out while he still could before the travel lockdown comes into force. He sounded genuine.

Whoops you forgot the people who are sick in America with it so far there’s Washington state and Chicago Illinois. Then there’s the young person down at Texas A&M and two people being checked right now in Detroit Michigan.

This comment is to all the people who gets offended when they hear the word CUSTOMS OR BORDER PROTECTION, little that’s you know, every country have borders to control the flow of people coming in to the country. Now, if’s you have a group of people coming in your country to do harm or you have people coming in with a deadly virus, the country have NO choice but to shut down the entrance into the country, this is a life or death matter. PEACE!

The apparent death rate of 2% isn't accurate as the number of people infected can still die as the infection progresses.

This whole things has got alarm bells ringing . Never listen to the official story, watch what they do not what they say. So now they’re building from scratch a 1000 place medical isolation unit.wouldnt you think that China would already be able to accommodate 1000 cases of anything just within the current infrastructure, 1000 is pissing in the wind, it would be much faster to concentrate existing patients to one hospital and move unrelated patients out. What are they expecting this to turn into, numbers wise. It’s a massive construction site working flat out 24/7. It doesn’t make any sense on any level. They could accommodate 1000 places easily in military hospitals. The annual flu death rate in China any given year must number into the tens or hundreds of thousands anyway. It’s a giant ant colony. A 1000 place facility only covers less than 1 in 1, 000, 000 people. So what’s really going on? For a virus with a 2% death rate only killing the old and weak with compromised immune systems? Who don’t travel anywhere cos they’re old and weak to start with. Today the UK government COBRA emergency committee met to discuss this, because 24 people died 10, 000 miles away ? More than that died today in the uk from normal flu -derived respiratory failure. It’s a normal cause of death in the elderly and infirm. This China thing is something different. But the authorities will play it down because they have to, there’s no point telling the truth because people will panic even if their individual risk is infinitesimally small. They’ll say they’ve sequenced the virus and developed a new vaccine then give us some old flu vaccine that’s been in storage and nearly out of date, so it appears they’re doing something. It takes a long time to sequence a virus then make a vaccine test it’s efficacy and manufacture and distribute it. They’re lying about something here.

This virus might not show any symptoms for 2 weeks but would still be contagious. It doesn't mean that someone from china is not coughing or doesn't have fever, the person is fine. Wait for 2 weeks and see what happens to the person. If you let them in too early, yer countries history mate.
