Plein air oil demo - "Sunday Morning Pt. 1". You will learn some plein air techniques for painting houses in oil in this video. I went out on a beautiful Sunday morning to find a plein air location. These houses caught my eye as I drove by. I really liked how the morning sun was creating drama and how the houses receded away in the scene. Using a 7" x 12" 1/4 inch MDF panel, I sketched in with burnt umber to establish my lights and darks. I also like how the tree on the right frames the scene and keeps the viewer's eye moving to the center of the composition. Thanks for watching ! Questions?...leave them in the comments.

The houses look just like the ones I would walk by in Louisville on the way to school when I was little. Brings back memories. Thanks Bruce great job.

i love how u spend actual time in the beginning to establish composition and perspective. neat trick with the ruler. if u get this part wrong the painting will never work. Thanks for taking the time instead of jumping right in.

Hello, Bruce. I enjoy your videos and your adventures. How do you deal with people who are curious about what you're doing when you are in the "backyard" painting their houses? Thanks!

Nice! I need a ruler. Still watching the video hoping you'll share where to buy a ruler like that.
