I just listened to this live, it was one of the most impressive things I've heard.

Does anyone get the feel that the whole song is kind of backwards like the name? Just listen to the beginning - it's like listening to a track on rewind

Wait'll y'dig it on the map - airegin
Spelled backwards
Really're closin' up the gap - airegin
Gone fac'wards
Back long time ago they saw a ghost
Ghost made a boast
Soon that ghost was host
Repeat first 8 bars

Those losing their hue
They goofed 'n got the wrong view
First, things reverse, last is first!
Y' dig it!

Hi jazzy Youtubers, I'm new to jazz. Could you tell me what emotion this track is eliciting, or what I'm supposed to feel? What should I be looking out for, or appreciating, in the music? What should I be trying to find? To me, it seems to be reflecting bustle or even chaos, like multiple thoughts running through one's mind or frantic movement of people in a metropolis. Is jazz more urban than rural?

First heard this song by Maynard Ferguson. Had no idea it was written by Sonny Rollins. Say what you will about Miles, but he was not a great trumpet player. A innovator, sure. Clifford Brown would have killed on this song. By the way, Sonny Rollins is still alive, but can't play anymore due to advanced age.

In my opinion one of Sonny’s best solos, high dramatic value.
