I listened to Scotty and bought silicone blades 3 years ago. Still going strong, despite the hot summers and freezing winters here in the midwest.

The best mod for a 94 celica is a pair of silicone wiper blades.

Thank you Scotty, I bought silicon wiper blades for my wife's car and my daughter's car. It's been a few years and they are still good. Wow what a difference.

I was at the parts store one day and I remarked to a guy who was in there buying wiper blades: "you should just get the Rain-X ones at Wal-Mart." The counter guy shot me a dirty look. lol good times . . .

In the North the blades only last a few winters MAX. I throw a medium quality set on in the fall and keep a new set under the passenger seat along with a new serpentine belt. I have ruined a good set of wiper blades driving in slush for long distances in 1 day. The highway salt + washer fluid combined with freezing/thawing can ruin a set in no time. If I buy the silicone blades they still only last 2-3 winters. I usually buy the one piece style but not the most expensive ones. I usually get 2 winters on average out of a set if I stay off the highway when the salt is bad.

Best advise he’s ever given.
He is 100% correct on this.

I put silicone blades on my wife’s car 2 years ago and still work as the day I put them on. Now all my cars have them.
Helpful hint:
1) Silicone or not, make a habit to wipe the blade with a damp paper towel each week.
2) I discovered RainX doesn’t work as well with silicone blades. Still use it for the side & back windows

Scotty speaks the truth as always. I've been using silicone wiper blades early on and they last much longer. In the Midwest driving daily can get a year on a set. That's also not using them to melt / scrape ice off the windows in the cold months. Nothing will last if you do that. If you don't drive a vehicle many miles a year and it's garage kept they will last for a couple of years easily.

Back in the 80's there was a company called Triple Edge that sold silicon wiper blades with a lifetime warranty. Yes, a LIFETIME warranty on wiper blades!
I never had to replace them. Unfortunately all the cars I put them on, I got rid of without keeping those blades.
I wish they were still in business.

Silicone costs way less if ordered from China via Ebay. Mine are 8 years old, look new and work great. If I recall correctly it was $3.00 for the pair.

Just about every RainX silicone blade I’ve sold have been returned, customers hated them. I only use Trico Onyx and clean them once or twice every month or so and they still work fine after a year and a half. Been selling parts for over 30 years.
