Falmouth Goat Races

Four-legged animals, their ears flapping, lined up at the starting line. A lively crowd — an estimated total of about 1,500 people throughout the day Saturday — cheered as the goats, each leashed to a human handler, raced down a dirt track. There were 50 animal contestants in all, each heat including no more than four competitors. This year's Falmouth Goat Race, a cherished local tradition sponsored by the Falmouth Civic Association and held at Governor Stable Park in Conoy Township, had been eagerly awaited.
