CANON XF105 Tutorial: special recording mode - interval

This is a tutorial for CANON XF105 or XF100 owners to show how you can use the Special Recording Mode - Interval. This is ideal for stop-motion capture, short to little movement, like plants or surroundings, etc. As compared with a timelapse with stills or photos, interval recording allows you to capture from 3 to 12 frames in intervals of 1 second to up to 10 minutes in between. There is no sound while recording this and other timed video. Instructions for this and other special recording modes are on p. 88 of the xf105 and xf100 manual, and on page 104 of the xf300 and xf305 manual.

Migeul.. great tutorial. I am just starting to try the time lapse with my XF100. Have you tried doing any night time lapse showing cars going by in front of a lighted city background? I have tried 1 sec on interval and 2 frames for this, but not getting the effect I am seeking. Any ideas? Also what software are you using to post the MXF files to youtube? Thanks!

Scott B, I haven't done any night time lapse, but I'm not sure what your desired effect is. Can you elaborate or show an example? Your "effect" will depend on your shutter speed or iris opening, or gain for exposure. I will try to do something similar and a couple of examples. I am using direct upload after I edited the video (added bottom thirds, text, etc.) on Sony Vegas. Thank you for your praise!
