The people of Boston voted to NOT host the Summer Olympics. Colorado has twice voted to NOT host the Winter Games despite the Olympic Siting Committee wanting Colorado as a host ever since the earliest winter Olys began. Hosting showy sporting events is not in the best interest of any city/state (except LA).

Even now with a supposedly anti-corruption government, there is rampant corruption. The top politicians themselves are clean since the PM leads by example but the lower level politicians and bureaucrats are extremely corrupt. Somehow, the central government has been soft on these culprits. India has no hope of overcoming rampant corruption in the foreseeable future.
