Utahns struggle in a competitive housing market

Brendan and Clare Vesce decided they wanted to move to Utah last November.

“We made the decision to leave Colorado and to be closer to family and just start our lives together as newborn parents and newlyweds.”

Their Colorado house sold immediately, but they found themselves virtually homeless in Ogden, where Brendan was already starting his new job.

Population in Utah is growing but below replacement rate and interestingly enough the population of SLC Metro declined last year.

I bought my house on the benches in the 80's, it was so cheap; a 5 bedroom 3 baths house, if I was trying to buy my house again now it would be impossible! Tell that to the mailers i get every week!

End the ability to turn homes into investment properties and the market will drop. Enact housing policies that require cities to build new homes at a faster pace than they currently are to address pent up demand. Enact rent controls to allow people living here to save up to buy or build a home of their own.

Utah government sucks, there welcoming big tech businesses into the state, but soon that industry will be done with, so far three big companies here in Utah have out source 90% of there employees positions to a company in India cause it’s going to save money, so iam thinking of more companies follow some of Utah will become like Detroit!
