MLB's Field of Dreams game between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox in 2021 was a long time coming. It had been a long time since the movie came out, and an even longer time because of delays caused by COVID. Thankfully, the event was worth the wait. Before we see the thrilling end to this highlight-packed game, let's rewind.

What a time to post this video. Showing what potential the White Sox had just as they’re about to have the worst record in modern baseball history.

As a white sox fan, this is probably our greatest moment in the last 10 years.

Secret Base trying to give White Sox fans an OUNCE of happiness, considering what's about to happen. I respect that.

As a post-script to all of this, Tim Anderson's walk-off home run at this game was the 15th walk-off home run against the Yankees by a White Sox player in history. The First? July 20, 1919. The batter? Shoeless Joe Jackson, a man who would be suspended, and then banned, months afterward in the wake of the aforementioned Black Sox Scandal.

Sometimes things just click together like that.

Anderson’s falloff needs to be studied was a regular .300 hitter and basehit machine now looks like he can’t even hit a beach ball.

How can you NOT be romantic about baseball?

As a white Sox fan this hurts. This is my favorite moment as a fan. I still go back and watch it. This was the peak for this team. I thought they had something great going. Then it all went downhill

Will forever be a classic. It’s just crazy though, because most of us thought Tim Anderson was on the verge of stardom after that walkoff, and then things went down hill very quickly, from incidents, fights, and his play dipping to replacement level player status

I hope there’s an Oakland A’s Rewinder in the pipeline before their last game in town…

I don't even care that the Yankees lost, this was such a good baseball game. It sucks that the game that happened the next year didn't have the same feeling.

As a White Sox fan, thank you for this. Seems like that was decades ago.

The point about current integration I believe is not totally fair. Part of the reason is that there's a significant amount of international players, mostly from Latin America. I very much doubt that the mlb leaders are pro-hispanic racists (for context, 30% of the players in MLB are latino, and they represent 18% of the population).

Also, as a latino myself, I wish the MLB adopted the census system for the ethnicity classification, where hispanic/latino is not a race question (because hispanic/latino is a cultural marker, not a racial one).

There should be a rewinder of Jose Bautista's bat flip

Even as a Yankee fan, i still remember that game with great affection.
Being from Italy and not having access to american sports when I was a child, I got into baseball late in my teenage years and in 2021 I was still in that learning phase about the game itself and the MLB. When I read about all the Field of Dreams event and witnessed the game itself being played I was mind-blown to say the least, because it was so far off from my european view of a sports game. That Giancarlo homer was probably one of the earliest "hype memories" I have as a Yankee fan, as well as that Anderson walkoff was probably one of the earliest heartbreaking baseball moments I have experienced.
