The R3s to my ear have a smoother response with less valleys in the upper mids, and present (to me) a more exact soundstage. I agree with (my subjective ear opinion. If I were buying new speakers and had the money, I'd go with the R3s.

The Rega has perfomed pretty much as well as any other amp with the DBR62s on here but that's because they're fairly easy to drive. You'd be wise to do some serious amp comparisons with the R3s since they're pretty tough on amps in my (and others' experience). Also, they're more suitable for larger rooms, whereas the DBR62s would be fine in a smaller room.

The R3 takes it by a mile. In comparison, the R3 sounds like a floorstander. The DBR62 sounds a bit honky and tinny (not tiny) like there is something not quite right with it.

Kef R 3 ??? One of the best speaker i have brought.( sonus faber m .amator, canton karat 709, kef ls 50 now in the second hi fi system)

мне кажется что у трех полосных колонок будет преимущество над двухполосными в их детальности и разделения по музыкальным инструментам, в большем объёме звука.
Я бы даже не слушая предпочёл KEF r3

KEF have better bass extension and a bit better overall, but ELAC hold their own considering they're half the price.

Wich one of these speakers is better to you comes down to your personal preferences and hearing. Yes, the DBR62s have definate colorations. They boost low-mids, dip down in the upper-mids, and dip again in the mid-treble. They mainly just come across to me as rich, full bodied and a bit warmed. Definitely not reference monitor neutral or ultra revealing. You may like it, or hate it, .. but kidding yourself that the KEF R3's, because they measure smoother through more of the midrange, are more neutral sounding or accurate overall, when they significantly accentuate the upper midrange and treble regions, is bull. You may like that coloration better is all.

Its funny how ones person has a completely different view of speakers and amps than someone else does, some of us like the Rega Brio me especially I think it sounds amazing understated more about the music than some fake chrome on mild steel, Kef take this by a mile.

The Brio has the uncanny ability to make two really good speakers sound like shit. Well done Rega. Maybe they should stick to turntables.
