You can just get a shovel and stab the ground too.
This is simple but extremely helpful stuff. Thank you

Even better for your soil - and the microbiology in it - is a broadfork. Opens up the soil without as much damage.

I was wondering why there were random holes in the soil near my neighborhood.

I had major problems with clay soil, and it was very, very compacted. I dug a big empty protein tub with holes drilled into the bottom third, and it's a "free-range worm farm" basically you put worms and food and bedding like dried leaves into that tub. The worms eat, and then compost and then venture out about 1.5 metres all around, and dig down through the soil aerating it and self fertilising as they go. My garden produces about 7x larger yield than when I started.

Healthy soil doesn't just compact by itself..

For someone who grew up spending every summer in the rural areas, it's actually feels surprising to see so many people get surprised by what the video says. Also surprised how detailed the author goes into describing the process of things that I saw pretty much obvious before.
I like that people learn new stuff

I wish the tines were a lot longer.
I take a 3 foot piece of rebar and pound it into the ground about 2 feet.
(Make sure you know where your utility lines are!)
I then will treat the aerated area with compost tea so microbes can make their way past the O horizon and start aggregating further down.
I’ve seen results.
This is only necesary immediately around the perimeter of my home. I have a nice sandy/silty loam away from the house.
That’s a whole other challenge during the dryer months, but easier to adress than compacted clay, rock, and the literally garbage that was used to level off the property in preparation for building back in 1870.

In switzerland wie fill the holes up whith sand so the holes stay longer other whys the soil close again and you hav less airflow. Like you videos👌🏽

Ever wonder why every single season the fields get turned over when farming? This is why. Tilling alone does not break up the soil properly, and fields do not have to be pretty like a yard (and in fact breaking up the soil beforehand can save your plow and planter wear and tear going through harder soil).

Taprooted plants also help, along with having things besides stupid turf everywhere. Also, put down mulch where you walk a lot in your gardens to help alleviate compaction. Core aerating is the bomb.😊

You know there's something called a plough, which has been used for centuries in agriculture. Technically it does the same thing: mixing up the soil to loosen it, making it "healthier"
