Alvis Edgar Owens Jr. (August 12, 1929 – March 25, 2006), professionally known as Buck Owens, was an American musician, singer, songwriter and band leader who had 21 No. 1 hits on the Billboard country music charts with his band the Buckaroos. They pioneered what came to be called the Bakersfield sound, named after Bakersfield, California, the city Owens called home and from which he drew inspiration for what he preferred to call American music

I'm now 82 and the last time I heard this music I was about 14. It was often played by a disc jockey named Jack Jackson on BBC!

Love Buck Owens' humour! Years after this song he duetted with Dwight Yoakam on 'Bakersfield' which I believe was written by Buck. I, too, remember hearing 'Cigareets...' on the Jack Jackson radio show on Saturday mornings and I'm only a mere kid at 76.

Saw Buck about 1978 at Frontier Village in CA.

My dad used to sing this while he was shaving -- along with a few other bawdy songs he learned in the Army Air Corps. We kids loved it -- he used to "bleep" the dirty parts and we would try to guess what the word was. hehe. My mother would pretend to be deaf.

I had a 91 year old man sing this song to me when I drove him to his DR appt this morning. I laughed so hard, then he and the doctor were singing it together during his check up. His son is a famous rock star from the 70's and 80's. I will not name him for privacy reasons but now I know where his son got his talent.

4 years old, and dressed as a cowboy, my first "gig" to sing this song at the firm's children's party. Can't remember if I signed autographs 😅.

Ha! I played this for my British born sons. I was raised in NYC during the 50's & 60's. I remembered this song - such a different culture to the UK!

Peter Sellers on the muppet show as the Salvation Army band sang this with the muppets pure classic fun.

My dad used to play this song on an old grammaphone to the lady next door to him when he was a kid just to drive her mad, she thought it was so rude :')
