Oh boy here we go. The capital "H" thing I disagree with. HEMI is now a engine logo for Chrysler's Hemi engine. It's like the Ford emblem is called the "Blue Oval". They are not the only ones or first to do so. The given name for the head design is hemispheric in shape and "hemispherical chamber" is the description of the area the domed shape piston comes into(compression/exhaust strokes) just like the wedge chamber heads. Why Chrysler chose to use the chamber designs to name their engines is in the copyrights. Though I feel it to be overstepping a bit. If I explained how a lung functions I'm not going name it the "Ed Lung" then charge billions to use it.

I always thought it was short for hemispherical combustion chamber, because the greatest hemispherical combustion chamber engine ever built was a Toyota 4 liter V8 single overhead cam. The engine had power ratings from as low as 180 all the way up to 500 horsepower net.
