I honestly can’t stand the catching mechanic in this game.

Another tip: if it does not stay in the ball 2 to 3 times in a row, flee. The chain stays and chansey tends to flee a lot.

Tip: VIOLENTLY INSULT THE CHANSEY. I dont know why, but this helped. I was silent, nothing happened, i cursed out the chansey? Caught

Tip: Don't actually run around like that when using a Lure. They are a step based item and moving doesn't make the Pokémon spawn.

Another thing to note, catching the same pokemon will gradually make the pokemon easier to get, so farming chanseys will eventually make it guaranteed to catch with specific balls

Fun little extra! Have one or two level 100s in your party in the top two slows and the chansey will have a green ring around it - guarantee first throw everytime. I had a combo of 65 Chansey yesterday, all with green rings and the first throw as a combo point!

Levelled up about 8 low level pokemon to between 80 and 100 in doing that XD

Also you quickly get to 999 health candies by catching chansey. My pokemon all have stupid health levels for what they are XD

It just sucks trying to catch it, finally getting it perfectly and then it breaks out of the ball again and again, runs away and the chain ends, nothing gained. If you have bad luck it only leads to frustration lol.

Rhydon gives you a lot of experience as well, is ubiquitous in Cerulean cave, and doesn’t hop to the side. So easy to get a long chain. Also, you didn’t mention that the Pokémon gets easier to catch, the more you catch of that species (and that’s regardless of whether you keep the combo going or not). I got a 100+ Rhydon combo and was pulling 36k experience on certain catches.

Tip: to try and get the first throw bonus, use a golden Razz or Nanab berry. That way way it’s easier to catch and there’s more of a chansey (pun intended) of you catching chansey on the first throw.

Your also neglecting the fact during your run around, you should always try to click on the sparkled spots for items, even tho they respawn every few hundred steps or so, tho you can get TONS of great stuff, even the very rare chance of Master Balls or fossils.
