I did a project in college about Soviet and Com-Block Science fiction movies. I am glad to see so many others appreciate them as well.

Picksandportraits, your retro rockets fire reliably. My intro to Soviet sci-fi came through Americanized, "American International" films of the '60's. You Tube etc. made these again available for review. Soviet sci-fi has one great difference with the American counterpart. The American films have far more conflict, treachery, and MONSTERS. Americanized Soviet sci-fi turns friendly aliens into vampires, inhabits dead moons with vagina mouthed monsters, so on. When you get to see the Soviet originals, it's quite a pleasant thing to see people mostly simply adventuring, solving problems together, and not blasting everything to pieces. Soviet science fact films? They remind me of American science fact films of the same time.

The USSR was the first to place a satellite onto and photograph the surface of Venus.
I always find Soviet fascinating, and even inspired my own pseudonym.
