I also study physics, the constants include planks constant, G (gravitational constant), the charge on a single electron, etc... there are so many constants that are fundamental to these particles.

With regards to the fundamental particle the retort is simple. You can't define a fundamental particle because our understanding of them are limited by our capabilities to measure them. First it was molecules, then atoms, then electrons, neutrons & protons and now we have quarks and quasi particles. So what's to say that in the next 10-20 years we wont find more subunits within these. Until our capability to measure/quantify these subunits far exceeds the dimensions of these subunits confirming that they are indeed the smallest unit we can't definitively determine a particle.
