Unst Boat Song - Double Bass cover; Shetland Traditional

This tune is one of the oldest surviving Shetland traditional songs.
The interpretation of this song by the Danish String Quartet on their album 'Last Leaf' inspired me to arrange this for basses.

The lyrics include the Norn language and dialect. Here is an excerpt from Shetland ForWirds. The lyrics seem to be a prayer for safe passage through stormy seas.

Starka virna vestilie
Obadeea, obadeea
Starka, virna, vestilie
Obadeea, monye.

Stala, stoita, stonga raer
O, whit says du da bunshka baer?
O, whit says du da bunshka baer?
Litra mae vee drengie.
