'ARMAGEDDAZON' -Jake Lizzio [Psychedellic Trance]

This was produced in Reason 10. The key can be thought of as A Phrygian Dominant (D Harmonic minor). The intro section is three long measures of 7/4. When the tribal flute hits, the bass continues to play polymetricly in 7/4 while the rest of the song stays in 8.

After the flute section, the song remains in 4/4 till the end.

The plucking reversey delayed thing at the beginning is a clean guitar recorded directly into Reason and placed into a Dr. Octo Rex drum sampler. I reversed specific slices of the audio, pitched the whole thing up an octave, and applied a liberal amount of delay.

Check out Mike Muggli, my synth consultant, for his electronic music.

Always admired how different textures and melodies combined in electronic music. Those who compose it are masters of counterpoint. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not into electronic music but I read the description and it's pretty cool to learn about the different metrics and other details of the song 👌

Great song for driving in the morning hours, the 7/4 threw me of balance wich seems to prepare you well for a feeling of exited desorientation throughout the song

Hey Jake, awesome channel. Great, great videos. Great teacher. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. I like the idea of you doing something in psychedelic trance. Personally I'm more tilted to electronic music especially techno, but harmoniously I think it's more interesting what happens in psychedelic trance, is a genre that I followed for several years since its inception and I think it's a movement that has contributed a lot to music, as in concept, production, arrangement, audio design, etc., etc., could take hours. And filled with very brilliant musicians, at least in the early days.
I would love to see your musical analysis on the genre, hopefully you can make a video about it. Best!

Sounds better than a LOT of Electronica out there today. Throw on some heavy bass, a singer using auto tune, and a dubstep bass drop and you got a hit! Joking - it sounds great just like it is.

This reminded me of something Alexander Brandon of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 fame would compose. Really fun to listen to :)

Can you explain the Polymetric 7/4 bass part to me. I couldn't hear it, and don't really undersand it.

hey, why don't you use your minilogue to do those stuff ? It's a versatile and awesome sounding synth, you could have done every thing with it, even a wonderful sounding drum ! kick snare hats, cymbal, percussion stuff, FX, all type of sound can be done with the mnlg <3 love this synth I miss it :(

Hey Jake I love the content! Is it possible you can do a lesson on dream theater’s the spirit carries on solo or lines in the sand solo and break it down? It’ll be awesome!
