Chris Pine talks to Sam Jones about the very different types of acting required by different types of films, and not having figured out which he's best suited for. And acting with things that simply aren't there.

I love Sam Jones as an interviewer. Everything feels so comfortable and the flow between the two is so natural. He draws out the best stories. Nothing feels forced, weird or aggressive.

All respect to Chris Pine, a team player thrust into a world of superstars.

thats very interesting, most of this hollywood action movies of today have very underwhelming acting in my vision. its just not as good as i know the actors can perform most of the time. now i kind of understand why, and thats awesome!

Advise from J.J Abrams “say you lines fast, it doesn’t even matter what the words mean, the audience will love it”. Explains Star Wars.

LOLLL I love how the interviewer tries to make it a deep conversation and Pine is just like yeah nope I just ran in there and said my lines as fast as I can

That's great advice from JJ, indeed. Had a director on an industrial b-roll shoot for who knows what tell us all what to do, then (conspiratorially, he read me like a a book and knew I'd get it) tell me, "just don't f*ck it up." Yessir, Mr. Director.

JJ Abrams advice to Chris basically sums up the entire new star wars trilogy "this doesn't make doesn't matter well just quickly change pace to the next scene so they forget"

Pine has my respect, but I’m not surprised JJ wasn’t concerned with details of story and motive. The whole “mystery box” idea, and figuring out the ending in a last minute draft, rarely results in a quality project. More time and effort, more drafts and consideration...these would have served Star Trek and Star Wars much better, with an eye towards timelessness instead of disposable entertainment at the expense of integrity. Which JJ project will age best? Lost?

I’m just now realizing that I used have my hair almost exactly like this and that it was a bad mistake.

I love me some Chris Pine -- he is super talented, highly intelligent, articulate, well-read, fearlessly fashionable and deliciously sexy in that smoldering rugged way.

That haircut though...😱😵😁

Would one be able to tell between a good director and a bad director by how much information they're able to tell an actor about a scene?
