i honestly would love to see a more mature take on monster high that doesn't default to "edgy teen netflix series" solely because watching monster girls be actual monsters would be so cool imo

I think it would be funny, and maybe even a little bit scarier, if the horror version of Draculaura still had an aversion to blood. She *has* to drink it in order to survive, but she's fighting the urge to throw up every time, and is probably pretty emaciated from going as long as possible without feeding. Though maybe that's being a little too cruel to the poor girl

The doll with the stone texture-skin *was* a Monster High doll! Her name was Rochelle Goyle
She also had a love interest who was also a gargoyle named Garrett, and I think he had the stone texture-skin, too

Monster high could have been so interesting with less doll like designs. If it was an indie show for teens/adults it would be so interesting to see what it could have been.

I feel like Monster High is like one of the only kids properties that would genuinely work well as a horror series since it’s entire concept is already horror oriented

But if I’m being honest it’d be kind of funny if the Monster High characters, even in this gorey and spooky retelling still act like their canon selves. Like oh yeah they kill people without a second thought but they still act exactly like their original counterparts

One aspect that I thought could be incorporated into Cleo is having her look a little more rotten/run down. Female mummies aren't as well preserved as male ones because Egyptians would wait for the body to start decomposing, this way the people mummyfying them wouldn't mess with the body. Cleo having to struggle with her body not being preserved well would certainly fit the horror aspect, albeit in a more psychological way.

Idk if you've seen the newer Monster High cartoon, but they had a lot of fun takes on the monstery aspects of the characters. Cleo in particular has all of her organs in jars in a purse, and if she gets too far from them she feels a physical effect. Like if she gets too far from the jar with her inner ear, she can't balance or walk straight. I just thought that was really cute practical character building and you might enjoy it when thinking about Cleo.

I would have of made Cleo bleeding from her nose because you know they used the hook in that area but other than that I love all the redesigns :D

Monster high has a reboot now and one of the new cleo dolls actually comes with a jar with her heart inside. It is a really cute detail.

Honestly though something cool that could’ve been cool or scarier is showing her starving or something, because she refuses to eat blood, so she’s thin, like she crumble at any second but she still refuses to eat what is meant to keep her thriving

I think if monster high got a teen/adult reboot, it should be a horror comedy, because lately these edgy teen reboot of our childhood shows have taken the fun out of it with all its serious themes. I feel monster high would be the cutesy creepy teen show with some dark humor and puns

hey haley, I know you probably won't see this, but you were SO important to me on my art journey. My art started to significantly improve once I started watching your videos. Not just the tutorials, the redesign and other vids too! They are all so educational, even unintentionally, and entertaining! I had a monster high doll as a kid that would weirdly trigger a very specific, very horrifying nightmare that i would have multiple times a week. It was weird because I loved the doll, and was never scared by it at all, but whenever I woke up, I somehow knew that the dream happened because of the doll. I got rid of it, and the dreams stopped. My chronic nightmares kept happening, but i didn't have that one again.

A fun fact I wanted to add is that in g3 Cleo canonically has had ALL her organs removed and she carries them around school in actual canopic jars which I find. So delightfully morbid and funny lmao

Also the stoneskin character you were talking about is most likely Rochelle Goyle, who IS a monster high character! She's a pastel goth gargoyle :>
