Correct answer but there is a shorter method. 1/f - 1/v = 1/u. Then cross multiply the two fractions on the left hand side and the denominators gives v - f/ vf = 1/u flip both fractions upside down to get u/1 (just u) = vf/v-f

Can you make convert the fractions on one side into a single fraction and reciprocate it?

why are you multiplying by vuf? - I can understand the rest of the equation but I don't know how you decided to do that first step
