5 Italian stereotypes that are true...mostly! Andiamo!

1) Italians 'parlano con le mani' - talk with their hands. Italians are generally very expressive, and gesturing while speaking is another tool to get a point across!
2) Italians love 'il calco' - soccer/football: While not every Italian is a sports fan, the country in general loves soccer/football, and almost everyone celebrates when the country does well 'alle Mondiali' - at the World Cup (Literally: at the worldwide).
3) Italians love their mothers. Italian men, in particular, are known for being '(i) mammoni' - mama's boys.
4) Italians are particular about their coffee. Though there are convenience items like instant coffee, most Italians prefer to savor a well-made '(il) macchiato' (Literally: stained) or espresso.
5) Italians are 'religiosi' - religious. This stereotype is changing, with fewer Italians considering themselves to be religious. However, the country is still predominantly catholic.

Go to any church at mass time in a small town and you’ll see how religious are Italians. Just old ladies. Big cities are different just because there is much more people, but it’s still a tiny percentage.
