You are 100% correct! In 1989, Sept, 29th, I was hauling grain to the dryer. We had a 30 foot wet bin feeding the dryer. That particular day, we were picking corn. The corn percentage coming out of that field was 32%, which was too wet. But, we had some bad weather that year. I didn’t know the percentage at the time I climb up the wet bin. I had started unload a cab over grain truck into a hoper to feed an auger into the wet bin. “Why is the the dryer running so slow”, I thought to myself. I looked down at grain truck and turned to peer down into the bin. At a split second that was slow- down into milliseconds, I saw the string of my pull over hooded sweatshirt pop out from where I had previously tucked away inside my shirt. The string danced on top of auger shaft that should of been covered, but we got in a hurry because of weather issues. I thought to myself, “Oh no this is it!” The string got tangled up onto the shaft and my left arm was being pulled behind my back as my head is quickly approaching the shear bolt to the motor. The bolt nicked my chin as I heard a tear of my sweatshirt, (later I found out the hood tore off, but was tangled inside the rest of the shirt I had under sweatshirt)! Adrenaline kicked in and I lifted myself away from the shaft all the upper garments ripped off my body and from the sheer force of it all, I almost threw myself off the top of the wet bin! Yes, I am a survivor! Saved by Jesus Christ. Literally and for dying for me at the cross! Moments before, it was a sunny day and a bit breezy. But, I had too much on. I just took off my Jean jacket! Need I say furthermore…

When I was a child working the fields, I thought my grandfather was particular, later realized he was wise and right.

That happened to me back in 1971. 14 years old. Working on my uncle's farm.
The worst thing was walking back to the house. Couple miles.

You can hear the concern in the sons voice after his dad is in the truck with him. It’s a tough job and it has it’s risks but that young man loves his father and saw every memory of him flashing before him when he saw that tractor in the ditch

I wish I could post pictures. Just in September, my transmission, steering, and brakes went out in a Case 305 with a grain cart, going downhill at 28 mph. Snapped the frame clean in half. It was brutal. Let’s just say that roller coasters ain’t got nothin on a runaway tractor

Sketchiest moment I experienced was when I was driving down the road in the tractor and heard gravel scraping behind me, so I slamed the clutch/brake and turned my head around just in time to see the double disc I was pulling sail past me in the ditch.

Back in the fall of 19’ I was running a 4430 with a 657 wagon and lost the right steer the wheel end comepletely came off the axle and as soon as the axle dipped into the asphalt it shot me in the ditch and when I came to I was in my side the wagon was on its side and it came down on the front end…..luckily some ready mix guys were behind me and about 4 of em were standing there hollering at me and eventually had to break the door to get me out bc of how twisted the cab was luckily we were using a buddies tractor and not mine bc it’s an open station and if I was in that I wouldn’t have made it so comepletely understand the goosebumps part but thankfully the good lord decided it wasn’t my time to come home that day

Was on a dozer just a few days ago and had it in high gear traveling for like 30 minutes and it decided to hang a hard left as i was going down this hill. Luckily I got it under control quick but if it was in a bad spot I would have been screwed. It was weird because it was a newer Komatsu d51 rental machine with like 1300 hours on it and the HST controller decided to go out sending full power to the right solenoid.

Reminds me of my dads mower a hydrostatic transmission with cruise control, he found out the brake petal does nothing with the cruise on and ended up grinding his blades on the end of a metal drainage tile😅

i was 14 coming home on the school bus and i looked over in our field and my pap had just driven over the front tires with the back dualies we had on for plowing with the old 2150 oliver. he wasnt as fast at 89 as in his younger days so took him a minute to gather himself and press the clutch in. he prob got thrown across the cab actually. the entire bracket that hangs with 8 or 10 1 and half inch bolts all seared right off plate and both front tires were under the tractor attached to the chisel plows across a creek crossing that was 8 or 10 ft deep on each side and just big enough to get through with the rollback and haul it to the house. had to sit it on a stump while we used a floor jack to press the drill into the bolts the snapped so we could retap the holes and put it back together. took us awhile to figure out the floor jack method but it was killer on the arms. we got it back together in a couple weeks but every neighbor drove past to see that behemoth sitting on its nose in the field. i know that oh crap feeling for sure.

The sketchiest situation i had with heavy machinery was when my brakes suddenly failed in the aproach of a roundabout. I tried to brake for a car on the roundabout and i literally felt the backpresure of the brakes fall in completely and i was still going about 25km/h without stopping power right to that roundabout. Then suddenly i remembered the handbrakes would stil be functional if they're in orden so I janked on it and thank god my tractor stoped just in time to not hit that car😪. And the sketchiest thing was the way back without those damn brakes😅😅😅 it was about a 2, 5 hour drive back home in the rush hour😅😅😅 didn't have a way to fix it on the go and didn't feel like calling a mechanic😅😅😅

It looks Like he literally parked the tractor! The camera angle didn't show much damage
