In July of 1960, at the age of ten, I had my tonsils removed and came home from the hospital to find a brunette Barbie doll with the long black gown and microphone set to go alongside. Little did I know this would lead to decades of Barbie fun for me, my daughter and my collector mother. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. 🩷🌷🩷

My mum had pretty in pink barbie as a kid and she kept the clothes and passed them down to me when I was little. Sadly the doll was lost to time. Now I’m an adult doll collector and I got super lucky and found the pretty in pink barbie at a thrift store. Now my mums old doll is complete she is one of my most prized dolls in my collection, she’s not perfect but her and her clothes have been through 2 generations of play and love which I think makes her more special.
( my mum also kept her superstar barbie dress I’d love to find that doll one day but for now my thrifted golden dream barbie models it perfectly)

I'm so glad you included the Mod dolls, Arjen. That was my early era! I think those dolls were the prettiest, Contoured facial features, attitude... ! I started my adult collecting in the nineties.

A really good, Arjen, thank you so much for this trip through the Barbie era's. I was lucky that my Mom loved Barbie too... I grew up in thes Sixties in California, and my first Barbie was the talking Stacey .... after her I got the talking Barbie and talking Ken.... and later of course Malibu Barbie. I never stopped collecting Barbie, her family and friends. I share the same passion. Thank you so much for your great channel! 🙋🏼‍♀️

1983 Dream Date P.J. in blue, one of the prettiest Barbies ever made!

The 1980s are my era! I am lucky to have most of these beautiful dolls! I can totally see when Barbie went off the cliff and totally downhill. Just imagine if the quality of the 80s and 90s was still there today. I can’t believe when you stand a doll from today next to a 80s or 90s Barbie how much they have declined. It’s kinda sad. You should do a video like this of the collector dolls!

Thanks Arjen for the tour around Barbie's history! I'm not a big collector, being very busy and lacking space, but I still have my first and last childhood Barbies : 1987 Island Fun Barbie and 1997 (if I'm correct) teen Courtney (Skipper's friend). Love them.

I was a Barbie girl of the late 70s and early 80s. I distinctly remember the store where I picked out Pink and Pretty Barbie at the department store toy section for my birthday. Some other iconic favorites of mine were the Day to Night Barbie, Western Barbie (until her winking eye got stuck and she turned into weird Barbie) and Barbie and the Rockers. Thanks for the memories, Arjen!

Golden Dream, Pink n Pretty and Dream Date- gorgeous dolls of which I was lucky to have as a kid. And I also miss the quality that Mattel once produced

My mom started collecting Barbies in the early 90s — therefore 90s Barbies were part of my memories. How I wish we could retrieve these gems such as the Costume Ball Barbie…

I loved watching this video and also hearing your opinions being so similar to mine about the 2000's and 2010's Barbie dolls

The 1974 Sweet 16 pink dress, I have that!! I didn't know it was from my birth year! It is currently by my sewing machine awaiting repairs. So glad I kept it!
