This movie is an underrated classic. Also side note: it's one of the few movies at the time that made an effort to reflect LA's diversity. It features Latino, Black and Asian characters in various roles and also diverse background actors.

Rewatched this on Disney plus lastnight. Great soundtrack, great performance by the dog, some funny scenes, some touching moments and a very game cast. Slight story, not very believable that a rich family would let a bum who just tried to kill himself live in their house. This is a cooky kinda film, reminded me of the family dynamic in beetlejuice. Nick Nolte improves the lives of all he meets, but he's lying through his teeth every step of the way. They don't make em like this anymore.

Saw this on its release at the Cinema…the Trailer looked ok…blocked the night out…hired a babysitter…had dinner…paid for parking…snacks at the kiosk cost 3 times normal price, and the admission price, of course…after all that, I walked out after 45min of the worst disjointed piece of trash I’ve ever put myself thru…
