Is Your Baby Not Yet Walking? How To Best Navigate Delayed Walking

Do you have a baby between the age of 14 and 18 months that is not yet walking? I'm sharing some very liberating tips in terms of navigating delayed walking as a parent. Most importantly, know this: the vast majority of children will figure it out. If you have a little one who is a little bit behind in their development, lean into the fact that 97- 98% of children either figure it out with support or they figure it out on their own. And so we can leave the worst-case scenarios behind. We don't need to engage with them. We don't need to waste our energy trying to entertain this because chances are your little ones is going to be ok. And we have to understand that every kid has their own unique timeline.

My little one is 14months and started walking 1 week ago. It was like a switch flipping. One day it was cruising along furniture, walking with a baby walker or with an adult's support, could totally stand up in the middle of the room by themself, but would only take 2-3 steps unassisted before falling over. The next day my little one walked the entire length of our apartment unassisted. And it's just been improving from there.

One of my twins didn't walk until 19 months. Pediatrician referred her to therapy at her 18 month appointment and she wanted nothing to do with the assessors! She was like who are these people and where is my mama?! She just wasn't ready I guess. I wasn't too worried because she didn't seem to have a disability causing it. Now she is a very active 4 year old who loves to run and do tumbling.

*19* month old here who isn't walking!! He was premature, spent a little time in the nicu. Was 4lbs coming out, now nearing -40 lbs- he is just starting to stand on his own for a few seconds. Pediatrician finally referred him to physical therapy so that's happening next. Apparently he's not walking because he's just a big chonky baby🙆 hoping we get this resolved for him soon. Thank you for the words of wisdom. I hope yours starts walking soon too - I'll say a prayer for our backs 😂

My little girl just turned 1 on may 21st. She’s tippy toeing and not walking on her own yet. She will be 14 months in a week. She didn’t start crawling until a week before her 1st birthday so I struggled already comparing her milestones to other babies. Now that’s she’s crawling I can have a sigh of relief from those questions but now it’s quickly turning into …well is she walking yet? So This helped me SO much!!!

My grandson 18 months is a bit behind. He’s having osteopathic treatment. We r told that he is having muscle tightness in the waist area. It’s painful for him and he will ask to sit down or lift him up in a few seconds. Now arranging a second opinion from a pediatrician. Awaiting an appointment.

My nephew is a 24months old and she doesn't walk yet.
The Dr said that she doesn't has motrice issues (she stands, and moves her legs...) but until now doesn't walk
She seems so scared when someone try to help her and that worrying me.
Please i just want to know if it's a common case ? And what's the best soulutions, physic therappy or deep diagnostic.

My baby girl will 2 yrs this September she didn't crawl she scoot from bump she now stand her own and play sometime but didn't walk we had concel with many pediatrician they give medicine and said that brain MRI but she is active in all things literally she didn't walk and eat herself but she talk little things I'm very tensed about her
