Music A level set work

Filmmaker and puppeteer Jeremy Hamway-Bidgood collaborates with Daniel Norman (Tenor), Sholto Kynoch (Piano) and Brodsky Quartet on a new visual interpretation of Ralph Vaughan Williams's song cycle, 'On Wenlock Edge'. The poetry is by A. E. Housman from his collection 'A Shropshire Lad'

On a park bench in London, an elderly Edward remembers his youth in the village of Bredon. As he day dreams of summer romance and birds soaring in the blue skies, a darkness starts to creep over him.

This is part 5 of the six-part song cycle. Parts 1 and 3 are also available on YouTube. The whole film, with live video editing and music, can be seen touring the UK and internationally in 2019/20.

Thank you . About time somebody created a film to accompany this tragic tale and mournful piece. One of my favourites.

Beautiful, but I wish I knew who the singer was!  Of course It was A.E. Housman who complained that Vaughan Williams had "mutilated" his poetry by cutting out two of his verses - adding, "How would he like it if I cut two bars out of his music?"
