I don't want the counterfeit height of the ivy plant that clings to foreign trellises forever.
I'd rather be a reed, a modest lowly tree rising higher, alone by myself.
I don't want the brilliant reflections of the seashore — that looks like a star — illumined
by the sun's rays. I'd rather be a humble oil lamp, giving out light, but from my own flame.
