In a devastating new report, Oxfam says one person is likely dying from hunger every 48 seconds in drought-ravaged Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia. We speak with Shannon Scribner, director of humanitarian work at Oxfam America, about how the hunger crisis has worsened since an earlier report was released 10 years ago. She says climate change and the recent war in Ukraine have worsened already dire conditions in East Africa. Researchers have been warning for years that drought and famine would be on the horizon, says Scribner. "We really need a system that is more responsive to those early warnings."

If any ngo/governments want to help East Africa, help them setup irrigation dams and modern farming. Particularly Ethiopia has a lot of big rivers that run year round, Kenya and south Sudan also have rivers and other water sources. However due to international politics favoring Egypt over East Africa, no organizations including IMF funds projects involving developing these countries water sources mainly building dams even hydroelectric dams. Despite all the challenges modern irrigation is expanding in the area.

Let's talk about the 10s of millions of Africans that die just they don't have have access to their blood right resources. That were taken in colonialism, which is yte supremacy. Let's talk about what and who is really causing the majority of problems in Afrika and other blk nations around the world.

Thank you for covering hunger comprehensively. Politicians, as usual, use any tragedy to point fingers at Putin instead of tackling all root causes.

It's pretty sad that the warning system is in place but nothing was done to mitigate this. 53 billion to prolong a war instead (it's 53, not 40. And now even more in extra weapons)

Our german farming minister Mr. Cem Özdemir means german farmer has to crow flowers for the german bees, not food for the world. This means german bees are more valuable than the people at Afghanistan, Somalia, Ethiopia ....

Food crisis doesn't exist in Africa, if it does, it's because of colonialism and foreign involvements, and endless wars which has been happening in Africa for years since slavery and still the world seems to be clueless

Why in the name of karma are we not promoting the wonderful solution to genetically modified food: HEMP! It grows anywhere and solves food crisis. I also loathe the disdain for desalination plants.

It’s so sad how some in the U.S. want to block planned parenthood, yet children all over the world are literally starving.

I feel we need to focus on who is already here. Access to birth control and other methods of planned parenthood should be expanded in some of these areas in Africa

According to Britannica, International Law does Allow Wars as long as Rules are followed. Shockingly, the world is designed to allow wars instead of coming a law to Forbid wars. The fact that Geneva and Hague Conventions are created means wars are allowed and war is not forbidden by international law. According to Britannica, International Law on Invasion is such that legally, the victorious Invader legally owns the invaded land.
