Our mill had a table above the floor chain that the gang swept onto, there was a tipple at the opposite end and any wany boards got dropped onto a belt that fed back to an edger so they didn’t have to take two trips through the trimmer.
There were no slabs to deal with because the cants were squared to size by the cant processor.

I sure miss sawmilling.
