I was seven in 1954 and remember having this. Except we had it on toast, not waffles. Sort of "chipped tuna on toast" or "fish on a shingle".

This is an example of a dish that looks the same before and after you've been sick. :-)

Do you ever see a recipe and think “god I’m so glad my mama didn’t cook like this..”

My mom used to make stroganoff with cream of mushroom soup, Lipton’s dry onion soup mix, browned hamburger and sour cream. She served it with those spirally noodles. I feel a new series coming on. “It’s not soup, it’s a meal” 😂

My mom always made TUNA FISH CASSEROLE...so easy...1 box of macaroni noodles cooked...mix w/ 2 cans cream of mushroom soup...2 can drained tuna & about 1 1/2 cans of evaporated milk//you want it a lil soupy so it doesn't dry out in oven. sprinkle of black pepper & a lil onion powder... put in 9 x 13 pan...crush a baggie full of potato chips & sprinkle over top & bake at 350 about 30 - 40 min..tll it bubbles on the sides... It is delicious we had this in the 60;s & 70;s all the time... My mom is 85 & I still make this for us...Hope some of you try this...

I make waffles out of cornbread batter then put chili and cheese on top... I think I'll stick with that one.

(Just don't use a recipe that has more than a teaspoon of sugar because otherwise they tend to stick in the waffle iron.)

I remember my mom using those canned “cream of” soups as a pasta sauce, and adding broccoli that was cooked down/steamed to soft. We called it “green spaghetti”. We added Parmesan on top. It was reminiscent of Alfredo & we loved it ☺️

King ranch chicken casserole! It’s super easy and my family loves it!

I use:
2 large boiled chicken breasts shredded
1 can of cream of mushroom
1 can cream of chicken
1 can of rotell tomates and green chilies
1 can of cream of cheddar
2 cups of Colby jack cheese
10-16 corn tortillas for layering

I Combine the creams and tomato/chilies with the shredded chicken, and then in a 9x12 casserole dish I layer tortillas and then add the mix with a sprinkle of cheese then layer again until I’ve reached the top of the casserole dish! Then lastly I cover with cheese and put in a 400 degree oven for about 25-30 min or until cheese is nice and golden!

Super delicious and great for potlucks!

It doesn’t look totally disgusting. I won’t go out of my way to ruin a perfectly good waffle to try it though.
I remember one grandma making me canned chicken noodle soup served on plain toast. And I remember another making spam sandwiches: spam mixed with mayo and served on white bread. My husband’s grandma always makes Jello salad (Jello mix, canned fruit, Cool Whip and cottage cheese) which is surprisingly good.

As a kid, I used to make “chowder” by warming up a cream of mushroom with a can of sweet corn 🌽 Loved it 😂

I used to mix canned mushroom soup (with a little milk) & canned tuna for my young sons, but I served it on toasted homemade bread & with a thin slice of tomato on top. No olives (soup was salty enough.) No garnish (young boys don't appreciate such things....) Now I'm a great-grandma, I think I'll try your waffle & olive version for myself. Thanks!

Pasta bake with condensed soup is the best!
One can of soup, then refill the can with milk and add the mix to cooked pasta, tuna, sweet corn (or any addition you like. Put in a dish, top with cheese and crushed crackers or crisps (potato chips) and grill ( if you heated the soup etc) or bake (if you didn’t heat the soup etc) until the cheese is bubbly and browned.
Children love this, and it is very cheap and filling

I'm southern, so a good 75% of the casseroles I make and love have cream of mushroom in them! Some favorites are squash casserole, chicken pot pie casserole, hashbrown casserole, green bean casserole...

I can actually see myself enjoying this recipe, especially if the waffles are a lil crispy.

Thanks Emmy, I'm a 60's baby so tuna casserole is my thing. I think I would enjoy this sauce with peas and carrots and noddles or with a biscuit crust. Yum 😋.

"It's not delicous...at all, but it's not disgusting either"
Best slogan ever LOL

It's kind of like a deconstructed tuna casserole, only with waffles in place of pasta. 🐹
