NEW Sony Mics - ECM-S1 & ECM-W3 | Quick Look

Sony just released not one, but TWO new wireless mic systems, the ECM-S1 & ECM-W3. Perfect for vloggers and podcasters, these microphones are easy to connect and use and will deliver high quality audio for all your projects.

Correction: We mention Sony's safety function at 3:10 and a more accurate explanation of it would be: "Safety function enables simultaneously recording of two audio tracks – one at normal volume and another 20dB lower- reducing the risk of sound distortion during high-volume recording"

Does it record on the transmitter units as well? Deal breaker if it doesn’t.

The ECM-W3 is interesting, but I would say, I rather have the Rode Wireless Pro as of now. Would love to see a side by side.

Great to see new product releases. It would have been good to see something unique that Sony could offer with their products than the others in terms of their wireless micr products. For now, I will likely see with what I have. If I do ever want to upgrade the micr, I would have to splurge on at least $1000 for the super-high ends to justify my use-case scenarios.

Other than that, great but not for me.

still gonna stick to Rode wireless Pro package that include free Lav mic (screw on to secure), and 32bit audio recording. But the wireless podcast mic, kinda interesting.

I just bought mine and was wondering if you had the same problems as I did.

1. When I have the transmitter on the 'on' position and place it into the charging case, it will turn the transmitter off to charge. When I remove it from the charging case, it does not turn back on automatically. I have to flip the power 'off' then 'on' again for it to turn on.

2. When I have the receiver on the 'on' position and it is connected to a MI-compatible Sony camera (my camera is the ZVE1), when I turn off the camera the receiver stays on for a short amount of time then turn off. When I turn on my camera again, the unit does not turn on (even with the power switch set to the 'on' position). I have to flip the power 'off' then 'on' again for it to run on. My setting on the receiver is that I have it set to 'digital'

If I want to use a really good lavalier for the ECM-W3, which one would you use? mainly for interviews but also for maybe put it on someone outdoors following them in a sort of documentary style

Does it power on and be ready to use fast? Or do you have to wait for the wireless system to connect?

There could have been something so interesting here, but this feels like Sony is 3-4 years late.

I mean sony could have done something really special here. It's a bit of a shame

$800 too much money. Too many cheaper options out there

Sony is late to the game. Rode and DJI have better offerings.
