I interpret this as a relationship that formed out of codependency--the character Jaguar Jonze plays is great at dancing, but the moment the male character leaves the video (even though he feels out of place to a certain extent), her character breaks down and the music stops. Rather than seeing her own inner greatness and what she can achieve independently, she places her own value/ability to continue the dance on another.
