Eddie Van Halen was the one who gave Floyd Rose the idea of the fine tuners.

You didn't tell any of the differences . German is forged baseplate and cnc saddles hardened and the Korean is bent baseplate and die cast saddles . The block is also a different alloy of brass. The German one is far better.

Tip for those who don’t like fine tuners on 1000s not being smooth . You can try to clean threads on fine tuners (for example with floss) and lube them with some teflon lube (MusicNomad or StewMac). They might not feel as smooth as on Original FR, but definitely much smoother than they were before.

The problem nowadays is that it is almost virtually impossible to buy OFRs and Floyd Rose 1000s online from either Stewmac or Realtone Music, even the Schaller Lockmeister is virtually impossible to buy online now, Floyd Rose seriously needs to sort out his supply disruption issues, Stewmac used to stock the OFR, Floyd Rose 1000, and Lockmeister but every time I've gone to order one it always says "Out Of Stock".

Floyd Rose website doesn’t sell the complete set of Floyd Rose 1000 but you can buy every separate parts of it.

Is the baseplate made from the same material, between an original, 1000 and special?

the FR 1000 is good, the base plate is steel but you can upgrade the rest with copies of hardened steel in alliexpress. but the zinc in some pieces did the job because that metal is not under stress. the base plate and the studs are fondamental to keep your instrument tunned. the other pieces are secondary/ otherwise get Gotoh or schaller. the good thing with gotoh you don't need to worry about the studs spacements.

You can order a Floyd piece by piece in colors you choose and assemble yourself. They all come with a router template you can order too. The 1, 000 has a deeper cut for the pegs and you can tell because they moved the words back on the plate further than the original.
To keep this suspension system affordable other companies will license it and not heat treat the steel or powder coat it. You end up with bars that bend and plates that shift, threads that strip and so on.

Cool vid
In my experience after owning a bunch of guitars, the only thing Ive really noticed is that the original German Floyd has smoother fine tuners.

Products made in Asia usually are not affected due to QC or labor. Import products made with metal in Asia can be made with pink copper. Mainly Chinese pickups is what I am referring to. The quality of metal is the problem with import guitars and basses.

I think the hardened steel in both the OG Floyd and the 1000 both probably have the same hardness but I wouldn't be surprised if they recycle parts. Both the 1000 and OG are made with grade 8 steel as opposed to the Floyd Rose Special saddles using grade 5 (which I personally have had break on me). That's really what matters. I have heard of people saying that the blade edges on the 1000 wear out over time as opposed to a Floyd Rose OG but I wonder how many of these people were inexperienced Schecter/ Jackson/LTD owners for example that just didn't adjust the Floyd mounting screws with the strings off and Floyd mounted thus ruining the knife edges because they didn't know any better or if the guitars that earned the Floyd Rose 1000 that reputation because it is in a way more easily obtainable based on the guitars being so popular like the Hellraiser Diamond, Platinum, etc. Series, 1000 Deluxe Series, or the Jackson Pro Series. If those guitars were designed to be value instruments and came with a Floyd 1000, they would have more inexperienced and perhaps a younger audience playing these due to those guitars being so desirable due to price and things. So the expensive OG Floyd also tends to be on high end guitars and custom guitars that people with more experience buy, make and play like ESP Standard Series and Custom Shop. The cheaper younger aimed guitars are naturally going to attract people who can afford the guitars and damage them whereas the higher priced USA Japanese and general custom guitars are more out of reach to less experienced players and owners

i just bought OFR and a locking nut, why are their packages not sealed? im worrying that the sellers could've replaced some minor parts from the pack like the saddles, it could be replaced by the 1000series..bought it from amazon and the seller is AP international..

I have got a korean floyd 1000 on my DBZ Venom.
Its never hold stability after "divebomb" and never got back to zero ( minus 17-20 cents after pulling up or bending down).
Replaced studs with original Schaller ones. Result is day and night!
Korean studs have even different head prifile, longer cavities, more play in the threads.
So if you got in trouble with stability buy proper Schaller lockmeister or replace studs with originals .
Btw., gold finish is going to wear out in weeks of use as well on korean sh...t.

What about the Floyd special? How are the tunes stability on that?

If you ever start a regular demo series, you have to call it "The Chopping Block"

You can buy a 1000 series in different colors from Floyd Rose and anyone who carries their trems; like Sweetwater or Amazon. I know this, because I had to go looking for a trem on one of my guitars.

I have a 1500 and a Gotoh1996 version on my two shredder guitars. The 1500 is what Schecter gets for their top of the line imports. It's a 1000 with a few steel parts that would otherwise be a a slightly softer metal. I highly recommend the Sun Valley Super Shredder Exotic FR if anyone wants to check out the 1500.

If it were just as good, it wouldnt be cheaper...if it were just as good, it wouldnt exist because there would be no point in having two items of the same build and quality in a product line with zero difference between the two. Its logical to say that its cheaper because its inferior, otherwise it simply wouldnt exist because its a more budget friendly option as opposed to the OFR. I also dont personally see the point because paying 250-300 on an OFR is not expensive. Considering how much people spend on premium guitars these days, an OFR is a buy once, cry once option vs a buy and hope option of the 1000 series.

My LTD has this Floyd Rose 1000 series tremolo, so I assume that I can easily swap it out and put in an original Floyd Rose that is truly made in Germany?
