Franklin X-40 pickleball ball review.

These are my honest thoughts about the ball, and I'm curious to know your thoughts. Share them in the comments section!

Firmness: 5/10
This is one of the softest outdoor balls available. It's much firmer than the Onix Fuse, but much softer than the Durafast 40 and many others. It gets softer the more it's played with, especially in warmer temperatures.

Out of round: 7/10
This ball will get a but out of round and develop some flat spots, mostly in cooler weather. It's made of plastic, so this is to be expected.

Playability: 9/10
The out of round issues are not as prominent as some other firmer pickleball models. Therefore, the ball plays fairly consistently.

Breakage: 7/10
This ball will still break after several games. Usually, it gets too soft before breaking, but in cooler temperatures, it will break much more quickly.

Longevity: 7/10
The Franklin X-40 tends to get too soft to be fun to play with prior to breaking. In my opinion, it's too soft from the start and only gets softer from there, which means it needs to be set aside before it breaks. A ball may last several games before it needs to be discarded.

Price: $2/ball. Lowest among top brands
There are good deals available online for this ball. This is one reason many players prefer it.

AL’s sporting goods has a crazy good deal on PCKL pickleballs. Elite 40s for $0.58/ball for the 12 pack. I read that the Elite 40 plays similar to the Franklin X-40. Could you do a comparison video because if the Elite 40 is basically the same as the X-40 I will prob buy a few hundred before they sell out. Once they are gone, they are gone forever bc PCKL is now out of business

In vegas, this ball is the only ball you will see played in rec games. The heat makes this thing so mushy, I think its a terrible ball for our climate. The vulcan vpro flight doesnt get mushy at all so i prefer it, but people complain about vulcan balls when I play with them.

I prefer the Chuck as a better X-40. Still lots of folks love this ball though. Similar firmness, Chuck has a bit more versatility.

I really can't with this ball though once temps are around 80-85 F.
