The Canon C70 is an incredible camera, even in 2023. Recently we decided to add a rig to our setup to allow for more ease and flexibility for shooting handheld. In this video you'll find all of our favourite parts and the links to them are in the description below.

Rig videos may be my favorite thing to watch, not gonna lie. You should consider the Smallrig half cage for the C70. I think it'll do everything your Nitze cage is doing but it keeps the hand grip completely free for a much more comfortable hold.

wait ... so you can power the C70 directly from D-tap ? i thought you needed a regulator cable of some kind so you don't fry the camera 😮

With that big battery in the way of the screen. Do you find you’re ever missing the touch screen to change focus …?

I hate that you just covered up the most important thing with the Canon C70, the manual sound controls on the back of the flip screen..
But everything else in the video is super sweet.
using v mount + battery grip on my B-cam (R5c)
The c70 with the big batteries is så crazy for long shoots (6 hours) but V mount is so nice because it goes well with my aputure lights (300X) so its a battery that could be used multiple places in my setup... you video made me think it might work with the flip V mount solution that you didnt like :P

What is your B cam for the C70? This has been my biggest struggle finding a comfortable b cam to pair with my C70.

Your links to the Vmount plate is routed to the cage - I have the C70 and would love to purchase the Vmount accessories

Great video, thanks. How do you adjust audio gain if its blocked by the battery?

Hi! I currently am on week 2 of owning my full c70 rig. Using 8Sinn cage and accessories combined with a lot of SmallRig stuff. I noticed you have the Peak Design tripod in your description-- do you use this tripod with the c70? Additionally, what did you add to the rig/tripod for turning it into a cinematography tripod? I ordered the 8Sinn arca/riser plate but hasn't arrived yet. My concern is lack of a tripod arm, but I do see there are heads available with very nice arms for filming. Have been looking at the Smallrig one.

I'm also looking at switching my system over to Tilta, Smallrig, or Nitze, depending on what the best option is as I have the DJI RS3 Pro on the way (although I am mostly interested in handheld videography)

Great Rig! Do you use most of the time manual focus or the auto focus? If you are using the auto focus, is the mic recording the noise of the auto focus?

I need that HDMI lock... Is that seperate? I jumped to Nitze a while ago! The secret is out!

Compared to the Canon 24-70 ii, how much sharper is the Sigma? I need a second 24-70, and injust dont care for the lack of sharpness from my Canon L 24-70 ii.

Hey bro great video as always. One question though. How do you manual focus if the handle is in the way? Do you just put your hand completely underneath the camera for that?

Hey Maclean! What are your settings for audio with the NTG Video Mic - I've rented the C70 twice, and I've had a hard time dialing in the camera gain and the mic gain - there seems to be a ton of noise if I have the gain set at a good camera level, where the mic itself won't clip. Any thoughts?
