Actually the sound we love its from the gearbox, it has straight cut teeth that makes it sound so beautiful, from what I could read its the rarest BWM ever made, only 10 non road legal

Fun fact: This race car was also in GTR2 and sounds were even sampled from its exhaust notes, engine revs, and even the Transmission straight-cut gears in real life.

I played a lot of GTR2 and had so much fun driving the BMW M3 E46 GTR in the hockenheim ring. :)

when the driver lets go of the gas and starts turning is almost identical to the sound of letting off the gas in the game.. the developers did an excellent job sampling sounds
