After rebuilding the carbs and installing the air intake boots, carbs and pod air filters, i'm putting some gas through this 1980 Suzuki GS 850 for the first time in years. Didn't sound all that bad for the first startup.

i believe this is what is referred to as the cylinder head breather or crankcase breather. It basically takes any engine blow-by (oil and water vapor) and routes it back into the stock airbox for reuse and water separation. Have a google on crankcase breathers and do your homework. I plan to purchase a crankcase breather filter to eliminate any oil vapors to soil anything behind that tube or allow critters into the engine.

Hello dear. I have a 1981 Suzuki GS850 that I have transformed into the cafe racer style. Since always, after the transformation, it has given me problems in the carburation due to the installation of POD's type conical filters. I have tried to find out enough about the subject, but it seems that it is well entangled. I even acquired and installed a set of larger jet´s recommended to me by several people. The problem persists ... in low walks perfect, but in high the engine seems forced and the final speed does not exceed 90 Km / hr. Could you give me some recommendation? Thanks and regards"

Yes, I have the same problem. I switched over to k&n air filters and have nowhere to put the breather tube?
