Blending humor, heart, and an incredible deep dive into Batman’s history, this film became a love letter to the Caped Crusader while still delivering all the laughs and action-packed moments fans expected.

“Wouldn’t work in live action” is so nice to hear. Animation as an art medium gives a kind of freedom to make any kind of story work, and so many people always sell it short of that.

This movie is what convinced me that I will watch as many Lego movies as they choose to make. Where else are you going to see the Joker team up with Voldemort, Godzilla, Sauron, the Wicked Witch of the West, the Gremlins, and the Daleks, and hear Batman say "Iron Man sucks"?

Fun Fact: Will Arnett uses his Batman voice when he gives his children important parenting information.

5:42 “My name is Richard Grayson, but the other kids at the orphanage call me dick.” “Well children can be cruel.” That line is so god damn hilarious.

The Lego Batman movie reminds of the 2018 spider man game. It adapts the franchise extremely well and pays homage to every piece of Batman media

Tony Stark: "Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist."

Bruce Wayne: "Billionaire, bon vivant, gallivanter, playboy, Gotham's most eligible bachelor, like 90 years in a row."

Not only do I consider this one of my favorite versions of Batman, but I think this is the best Robin movie. Too many DC stuff portrays him as either a whiny aggressive brat or some overly angsty edgelord (like 2 TV shows I will NOT mention), but this version of Dick Grayson is actually likable for once. He may have been naive, but his heart was in the right place. He would have done anything to make Batman proud of him, helped him come out of his loner shell, and help create the Bat-Family. He's like what Robin was meant to represent back in the 1940s, and I loved him for it.

THAT… and the fact that he’s canonically EVERY Batman ever.

I had no idea how much i needed a well-written video essay on the Lego Batman Movie.

My favorite part was that they didn’t just add every villain at the very start for the sake of cramming them in, but that they ended up being vital in the finale

This is legitimately one of my favorite films of all time. That sounds stupid, but this movie is gorgeous to look at, surprisingly witty and funny, packed with jokes only adults will get, and a really poignant message at its heart. And as much as I love The Batman and the Nolan trilogy, this is my favorite Batman movie.

I definitely LOVED the idea of a Batman who has tragically closed himself off from everyone around him. Most other Batman media doesn't even mention that Bruce's _parents were shot right in front of him_ more than once or twice, and it's always been a backdrop to the overall story. This is the only Batman story I've seen where Bruce is actively trying to fill the void left by growing up without his parents, and intentionally pushes away those closest to him because he's afraid of losing them too. Lego Batman, more than any other Batman, is a man who lost his parents at a young age and still hasn't fully come to terms with that. He basks in the adoration of his city full of fans because it's the most intimate relationship he'll let himself have. Sure, other Batmans have avoided getting close with those around them, but those Batmans were more _dark, brooding, and edgy, _ while Lego Batman is genuinely tragic.

Something genius this film did in contrast to other Batman films is explore to its fullest _why_ Batman is a dark and brooding loner. It’s always been established that he is, but this film makes the direct connection that because he lost his parents, he’s scared of ever caring for anyone again in case they die too. It creates this incredible character motivation in this movie that isn’t really used elsewhere. Sure, he’s a loner who hates working with people, but the Lego Batman Movie says exactly _why._

I remember watching this in theaters as a 12 year old kid, and I remember enjoying it well enough. But being reminded of how much of a love letter it was for Batman fans in hindsight makes me appreciate more.
Maybe if I were to rewatch it, I would actually love it.

The Lego Batman Movie was incredible and a nice surprise.
Not mentioned in the video but the casting was on point for this as well, with Will Arnett and Michael Cera shining as Batman and Robin.

It's a shame we'll never get a sequel. Chris McKay had an awesome pitch that was about his friendship with Superman.

That scene when Batman comes home, spends his night alone in the most relatable moments ever captured on film of just the sort of mundane activities of microwave and watching a movie etc, then watches Jerry Maguire, realising he’s alone, and then laments to his dead parents. Its such a simple obvious scene that makes its point super clear, and hilariously cliche, yet wow it is somehow extremely emotional to watch. Gonna be honest, never expected to cry at a Lego Batman Movie.

One of my only regrets in life is NOT seeing this in theaters opening weekend.

The movie Kick-Ass (2010) actually made me think and believe that it's possible to make a Batman movie with Robin without compromising or losing all its dark and serious tone/theme.

one of my favorite reoccurring gags ever is how the characters actually say "bang" when shooting a gun or wacking on a door. I just find it so funny for some reason.
