If you go to MIT or Harvard you will see that top companies have built labs in their campus . We need top companies of India also to build cutting edge labs in our IITs and premier institutes to promote in-house technology . Same technology developed in labs same companies can use in their mainstream products and get ROI on their lab investment . We need that in India as well.

Jindal steel have been making adequate profits to develop R&D and tech in India. Invest in building Indian talent and empower the engineers to develop new technologies. This is the bane of Desi Lala companies. Indian talent develops cutting edge technologies in MNC companies

Crazy that this is precisely the stategy of import-substitution industrialization that India pursued till 1991 but for the past 30 years they have been singing praises of globalization because it fetched them big money, but now that it's growth potential is exhausted they somehow rediscover the logic of ISI which was quite easily explanable to everyone. Yet, despite running heavy trade deficits, India kept pursuing the globalization strategy, because that's what its billionaires wanted who have joint ventures with other corporations around the world.

Here indian Industraists invest in Foregine University to get recognition from Them but are very less supportive to bright Indian students who want to go study and research on technology and invest in his or her for india and indian Company .

from there we Indians can set up many Research labs outside and inside india so that we can be part of the global tech / Business dev movement. In this way we can channelise the trend to indian Society.

Still after 70yrs of independence now at this stage we can't Borrow the Technology"

CECC Co-chair Looks Forward to Bill in the Senate

Senator and CECC co-chair Jeff Merkley addressed the hearing.

CECC co-chair and U.S. Senator from Oregon Jeff Merkley said human rights abuses and forced organ harvesting in China has been a long-standing concern of the Commission. He said the system in China is not transparent since, “The Chinese government has refused to agree to independent or international investigations.”

Merkley added that Chairman Smith is the author of the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act, which passed the House a year ago. “I am a cosponsor of the Senate version and hope we can move it soon on our side, ” he continued.

Just talking some nonsense.... No one gives IP or technology for free...
It takes many years of Research to create IPs.
What this gentlemen is saying, is that bring their electronic/technical parts and assemble it here, into the final product.
Which is easier & faster way of making profits, by selling it to indians.
This will not really help in real Manufacturing, and generate massive no. of jobs, that India wants, right now.
